How to beat King difficulty
You can use the same strategy to beat King II and King III.
Decrees:
- Evil Pact: Increasing the number of Imps summoned by the Pagoda is very powerful.
- Fireworks: Expanding the Bomber's area of effect helps clear most enemies.
- War Cry: Both the Altar and the Pagoda are considered summons.
- Overwork: Improves scaling.
- Gunpowder: Same effect as Fireworks.
- Covenant: Doubles the stats of the altar.
Troops and Positioning:
- Pagoda
- Always place it in a corner to maximize the distance between enemies.
- Unlocking level 6 or 9 caps helps a lot, as it's damage scales highly.
- Unlike the Demo, the imps no longer draw enemy aggro, but they will be your main damage source after the initial impact from the Bombers.
- Imps
- Place them in the remaining corner.
- A strong early-game troop, but loses relevance as time passes.
- Cemetery and Blacksmith help early on; Library and Farm extend the unit's effectiveness.
- Only Steel Coat makes sense here.
- Altar
- Some buildings provide buffs to the Altar, but nothing as impactful as its natural growth passive.
- It will basically act as a tank that scales over time — extremely necessary for this strategy.
- Bombers
- The center slot is ideal for this unit.
- Smithy and Farm are the main buffs; Library and Cemetery provide good support. (The more troops, the better.)
- Main damage source in this strategy.
- Combustion and Carnage are essential blessings. Procreate is also very good.
Cons:
- May be hard to execute if your king is not high-level.
- King of Progress may become unbeatable due to the tank troop reflecting damage.
Perks:
- Cultist: Secures the early game with Imp cards.
- Pagan: Early Altars.
- Summoner: That 30% is much stronger than you think.
- Ingenious: Being able to upgrade the Pagoda improves your DPS after the Bombers.
