Kings
9 Kings can be played with 9 starting kings. Each comes their own deck of cards, decrees, and king perks. When starting a game for the first time, the only available king is the King of Nothing. To unlock new kings, the player must complete quests, which are shown on a locked King card, along with the current quest progress. When the player completes the quest of any King, the ending screen of that game will have a pop-up stating that they have unlocked a new King.
The selection screen is a rotating circle with all the Kings.
Current Kings
King of Nothing
The King of Nothing is a balanced King with a straightforward set of cards. It is considered the best deck for newcomers due to its simple mechanics and lack of reliance on specialized strategies, making it very consistent. The King of Nothing has quite powerful strategies in their Soldiers and Paladins, due to their unique damage scaling mechanics.
King of Spells
The King of Spells is a spell and enchantment based King with a versatile set cards. Many of its cards are situational and require a strong understanding of timing and synergy. It can be quite powerful on its own through enchanting its units, but needs support from other King's cards to flourish. It is often beneficial to declare war on the King of Spells due to its ability to enhance troops, especially with the Library.
King of Greed
The King of Greed focuses on gold-based strategies, mainly through generating large amounts of gold and getting benefits from it. It rewards long-term planning and resource hoarding, which will make your troops or towers very powerful. It is very strong in the late game, but struggles early to high enemy counts or speed.
King of Blood
The King of Blood is a sacrifice-based King where trade-offs and ally death can lead to great rewards. It features the widest range of summon effects among all decks. Its gameplay revolves around sacrificing (or letting die in battle) weak units to empower stronger ones, such as the Demon's Altar and Mangler. While the early game can be quite risky, it can rapidly snowball with the right synergies.
King of Nature
The King of Nature is a wildlife-based King focused on high HP and troop counts. Its cards summon beasts, heal units, or increase the population of units. This king thrives in drawn-out games where it can build momentum through growth, particularly exponential HP scaling. It also features a quite powerful Base Tower.
King of Nomads
The King of Nomads is a movement-focused King and that the player to occupy and move plots in order to get an advantage as the years go by. This King can be quite powerful in all stages of the game, through cards such as Shields and Swords which have a liner effect useful in the early game, but exponential once you hit certain thresholds.King of Stone
The King of Stone is a tower-based King that emphasizes defense and fortification. Its strategies revolve around spamming and enhancing structures. With few (if any) viable unit-based strategies, this king relies on wearing enemies down with stout defenses.
King of Progress
The King of Progress is a development-focused King centered around unit and building upgrades. The King of Progress boasts both amazing early and late game potential but relies heavily on the right cards, in the right order. The King of Progress has a plethora of powerful strategies that can all be used to great effect, such as all in rats, executioners, or poison defenders.
King of Time
The King of Time is a multidimensional gentleman who travels through the ages in search of more kingdoms to conquer, the King of Time joins the roster to break time continuum and the game like never before. His kingdom lies in the fringes of time, somewhere between magic, sci-fi, and steampunk technology. Which one is it? Only time will tell.
